Books in Motion Summer Reading Challenge Combines DANCE + LITERACY for KERN COUNTY CHILDREN In collaboration with Kern County dance organizations (Dancer’s Turnout Academy, Downtown Dance Arts, Mojave Movement Arts Center), families will have the opportunity to visit Kern County Library branches to watch dance performances based upon a well---known children’s book, learn choreography, and create a craft that coincides with the book’ theme. As part of the Library’s Summer Reading Challenge, nine, 1-‐hour, performances will be offered between June 1 and August 1, 2017. Free books will be offered to families that pre‐register for Books in Motion on a first come, first serve basis. Books in Motion will be offered for FREE to all participants. Books in Motion has been generously funded by the Arts Council of Kern County, the Bakersfield Californian Foundation, Golden Queen, and Terra-Gen.
