Amelia Bedelia is dancing her way to eastern Kern County!
On Saturday, June 8, 2019, the Rosamond and California City branches of the Kern County library will host a free interactive performance of Amelia Bedelia’s First Library Card. The event is part of Books in Motion, a free literacy program that encourages reading through dancing. Children of all ages will be able to hear the narration while seeing the book come to life through dance. They will then learn the dance and create a craft that relates to the story. The Rosamond branch event will take place at 11am, followed by California City’s event, at 12:30pm. In its third year, Books in Motion is a collaborative effort between the Kern Literacy Council, the Kern County Library, and the Kern Dance Alliance. For Saturday’s performance, dancers from the Tri Valley Arts Ballet Academy will be featured. Parents should call the specific library to reserve a spot for their child.
