Evidence Based Individual Reading Inventory Assessments.
Tutors utilize tailored learning plans based on the results of the Ekwoll Shakner assessment. These plans serve as roadmaps for tutoring sessions, focusing on specific areas where improvement is needed. In conjunction with Challenger Level workbooks, carefully selected to align with each student's learning plan, tutors provide targeted instruction to gradually challenge reading and comprehension skills. Additionally, study aids such as flashcards, reading guides, and vocabulary lists are offered to enhance understanding and retention.
The program also extends its impact beyond the tutoring sessions by providing students with books to take home. This practice encourages independent reading practice, reinforcing newly acquired skills and fostering a lifelong love of reading. Furthermore, by enrolling children aged 0 to 5 in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, the program plants the seeds of literacy at an early age.
Burlington English
Kern Literacy Council tutoring services utilizes Burlington English Soft Skills course, contributing to the development of problem-solving, critical thinking, and study skills. The incorporation of technology, including the Learning Management System's full inventory of homework assignments, quizzes, and assessments, allows for detailed tracking of progress, enabling tutors and program coordinators to provide customized support aligned with each student's needs.
